Dr. Saul Frenkiel presently serves as Professor and Chair of the McGill Department of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery. He is also the Chief of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery at the MUHC and is the past Chief of the department at the Jewish General Hospital.

Among his previous positions were President of the Canadian Society of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery, Executive Committee member of the Association d’otorhinolaryngologie-cervicofaciale du Quebec, Associate Editor of the Journal of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery, and Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada Fellowship Examiner.

Dr. Frenkiel has been a frequent visiting professor to university training programs and has delivered numerous lectures to national and international societies. He has been a course director for many workshops on endoscopic sinus surgery. He was also invited to be the Millennium Lecturer in Rhinology for the Canadian Society of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery. He has over 150 publications, including textbook chapters, peer-reviewed and periodical articles, and multi-media works. He has also co-authored the Canadian National Guidelines on Rhinitis and Sinusitis.

Dr. Frenkiel’s clinical interests are in the sub-specialty of rhinology and endoscopic sinus surgery. His research activities have included work on the molecular biology of chronic sinusitis, mucociliary physiology, and nasal airflow testing. His current research interests involve the newer technology of virtual sinuscopy.
