The tight collaboration between researchers, clinicians, and patients is at the basis of the most successful research programs at the Lady Davis Institute for Medical Research (LDI). With over 800 clinical trials in the past 20 years, the Jewish General Hospital (JGH) is a hub for clinical studies in Quebec often initiated by discoveries made in the LDI laboratories.

Clinical studies led by LDI researchers include the discovery of:

  • The benefit of vitamin D for hospitalized patients – John Hoffer
  • Factors making obese people more prone to osteoporosis – Alan Spatz
  • A drug that helps smokers having cardiac problems to quit – Mark Eisenberg
  • An antidiabetic drug that reduces the growth of prostate cancer – Michael Pollak
