Data Management Support Services provide researchers with advice and guidance to help them adopt and maintain best practices in data management. We focus on promoting responsible, efficient, and compliant approaches to handling research data, from project planning to data sharing and preservation. Through consultations, tailored recommendations, and workshops, we help research teams align with institutional policies, meet funder requirements, and enhance the overall quality and impact of their data.
Data governance and management are essential for ensuring the security and integrity of sensitive data. Data governance establishes policies and procedures to protect data confidentiality and comply with legal and regulatory requirements. In health research settings, ensuring that health data is accurate, consistent, and reliable, and safeguarding it against breaches and unauthorized access is crucial. Therefore, effective Research Data Management (RDM) ensures that data collected during research is accurate, secure, and accessible throughout the project lifecycle and beyond.
At the Lady Davis Institute for Medical Research (LDI), the Data Management Support Service aims to assist research teams in clarifying data-related policies and improve communication with affiliated research institutions and the CIUSSS du Centre-Ouest-de-l’Île-de-Montréal (CCOMTL). Additionally, it seeks to raise awareness, support researchers, and disseminate information on data management policies and standards. Then, throughout the research project’s lifecycle, proper data management will:
